On a personal note
I’m Mac Zevenbergen, a financial planner, business owner, husband, and lifelong learner who has always been interested in how money can be used to create more freedom and opportunity in life.
That interest eventually grew into a career in financial planning and investment management. I earned my degree in Financial Counseling and Financial Planning from Iowa State University and later earned the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designation. After gaining experience in the industry, I decided to open my own firm, Birch Bay Financial Planning.
I live in Illinois with my wife, Christina, who is a high school agriculture teacher. Outside of work, we enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and life with our dog, Bart, and cat, Betty.
Why I want to serve American Airlines employees
American Airlines employees are a special focus of Birch Bay Financial Planning because of my family’s connection to the airline industry.
My mom, Andrea, has been an American Airlines flight attendant for my entire life. Growing up, I was around the airline industry and its benefits from an early age, including going through her benefits package and seeing firsthand the unique financial decisions employees face. She spent much of her career based in Chicago and is now based in Dallas. My sister, Lynden, is also an American Airlines flight attendant and is currently in her first year, based in Washington, D.C.
American Airlines employees have unique careers, benefits, and financial considerations, and I believe they deserve a financial planner who understands their company and industry on a deeper level. My goal is to help them make the most of their benefits and build a financial plan that supports the life they enjoy today while preparing for the future.
